What is Lecithin

Lecithin is one of the basic compounds found naturally in the human cells. It exists in the liver, heart, kidney and other major organs, and also supports the nervous system, blood circulatory system, immune system. Lecithin is a phospholipid substance, a class of fatty compounds containing phosphorus and a complex composition of glycerol. The lecithin family includes phosphatidylcholine(PC), cephalin/phosphatidylethanolamine(PE), inositol phospholipids/phosphoinositides(PI), phospholipid acid(PA),  serine phospholipids(PS) and other mixtures. The most typical types are the first three.
The natural sources of lecithin are from soybean,  milk, egg yolk, grains, sesame, mushrooms, fungus, vegi oil, sunflower and other foods.
Commercial lecithin mostly refers to soy lecithin. It contains cephalin, cardiolipin, phosphatidic acid (PA), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), acetal phospholipids, and hemolytic phospholipids extracted from soybeans, mixed with neutral oil and other non-phospholipid components, such as pigments, sugars, galactosidase, cerebroside lipids.  These essential nutrients can benefit human body in different ways. Recently, many pharmaceutical scientists and nutrition experts have confirmed that lecithin(soy lecithin) plays an important role in health promotion and disease prevention.
Another type of lecithin is egg yolk phospholipids. Yolk lecithin is an animal embryo lecithin, rich in cholesterol, triglycerides, and many other essential nutrients. The york lecithin can keep cholesterol lipids emulsified in the blood, then absorbed and utilized by the cells of the body, so it won't cause the increase in plasma cholesterol. Egg yolk lecithin has higher nutritional value than lecithin products from other sources, but the process of extraction can be complex and quite expensive.

The effect of lecithin
Protector of the Liver
As one of the major organs in human body, Liver is responsible for storing energy, discharging waste, such as the supply of some important role in the body to consume a large amount of phospholipids, although the liver itself can be a small amount of phospholipid synthesis, but still from the diet added.
Many nutritionists and medical scientists have recognized the protective effect lecithin has on liver function.  Clinical studies found that lack of lecithin for a period of time can cause liver dysfunction or damage, and even increase the risk of liver cancer. The main ingredient of lecithin is phosphatidylcholine(PC). It plays an essential role in fat metabolism. Lack of PC may result in Fatty liver. Accumulation of fat in the liver may also be accompanied by a progressive inflammation. phospholipid can prevent fatty liver, promote cell regeneration and liver recovery, lower serum cholesterol and prevent cirrhosis and hepatitis.

Heart and Vein

During 1960s, scientists discovered that lecithin may have a cardioprotective role in the further study, which revealed that lecithin has a positive effect on heart health. It can enhance blood circulation, regulate the flow of nutrients and waste materials in and out of the cell. Remove serum lipid peroxide, reduce fat in the blood vessel wall of the residence time, the promotion of atherosclerotic plaque dissipation, to prevent blood vessels from the cholesterol-induced intimal injury. Taking high blood fat and lecithin cholesterol has a significant effect, thus prevention and treatment to atherosclerosis(hypertension, myocardial infarction, stroke), and lower the risk of other diseases, such as high blood lipids, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, coronary heart disease.
Lecithin can effectively dissolve gallstones
Cholesterol is the main components of gallstones,  takes up 90% water, cholesterol, minerals and pigments.  lecithin can decompose the excess of cholesterol, digestion and absorption of cholesterol in the bile to keep it liquid. Taking a certain amount of lecithin daily can effectively prevent the formation of gallstones.

Brain development, memory

Lecithin is an important brain tissue composition of the substances. Brain thinking activity through a specific link between nerve cells, where this particular contact acetylcholine basis. Without acetylcholine, this link would be reduced, the brain will be a diminished thinking ability, memory loss, even loss of memory and other serious problems. Acetylcholine is the body intake and absorption of acetyl choline and synthesis of the human body. Choline is a basic component of lecithin, lecithin intake, therefore, will ensure adequate choline and acetylcholine synthesis of acetylcholine in the human body. Man brain to transfer material to provide sufficient information, thus enhance the activation of brain cells, improve memory and intelligence.
Prevent Alzheimer's disease. Brain neurotransmitter (acetylcholine) reduction is the main cause of dementia, and "cholinergic" is the basic component of lecithin, lecithin and sufficient supply to ensure the body has enough guts pH and the combination of the body B, "acetylcholine", so as to provide adequate information the brain neurotransmitters, effectively prevent the occurrence of dementia.

A good dose of psychological reconcile
An increasingly competitive society, people long in the environment and all sorts of stress under pressure, often suffering from anxiety, impatience, irritability, insomnia, tinnitus, embolism, or autonomic nerve disorder, often referred to as neurasthenia. Often added lecithin, can be nutritional supplement of brain in a timely manner, maintain a healthy status, helping to eliminate fatigue, intensify the brain cells, improving the result of nervous tension caused by impatience, irritability and insomnia.

a diabetes nutrition
Lack of lecithin would decrease the function of pancreas, reduce the secretion of insulin. affect the transport glucose in the blood to cells. This is one of the basic reasons leading to diabetes.  Daily consumption of 20 grams lecithin can remarkably relieve the symptoms of diabetes. This treatment is more effective for diabetic patients with complications such as gangrene and arteriosclerosis.

can eliminate acne, freckles and nourish skin
Lecithin is essential material in every cell of the body, the absence will reduce the ability to regenerate skin cells, result in rough skin with wrinkles. If adequate intake of lecithin, renewable energy can protect the skin, plus lecithin good hydrophilicity and lipophilicity, shiny skin, of course there was. In addition, the lecithin contained in the main inositol or hair nutrient, can inhibit hair loss, gray hair will slowly turn black.

In the normal human body contains many toxins, especially in the intestine. The blood circulation will be deposited in the skin, creating dark spots or acne. Lecithin is just a natural antidote to too much it can breakdown the body of toxins, and the handling by the liver and kidney excretion, when the body of toxins reduce to a certain concentration, the face of the spots and acne will slowly disappear. Lecithin also has a certain degree of hydrophilicity, and increased hemoglobin function, if taking a certain amount of lecithin per day can provide adequate skin moisture and oxygen, the skin becomes soft and smooth.

Who Lecithin can help ?

1. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) regulations says that the infant milk powder must contains certain amount of phospholipids.

2. Students, intellectuals and middle aged: lecithin can increase brain activity, elimination of brain fatigue, memory, increased learning efficiency.

But also to repair injured brain cells, preventing the occurrence of senile dementia.

3. For long-term alcohol user, nutrition and fatty liver patients: daily doses of 10-15 grams of lecithin, 3-5 months

4. Diabetic patients: a daily consumption of more than 20 grams of soy lecithin can help to recover the symptons of diabete. Especially effective for

diabetes complications such as gangrene and arteriosclerosis in patients .
